class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>Some medical devices are made of materials that can withstand the high temperatures of a sterilization autoclave (134\u00b0C) :<\/strong><\/span> metals, glass, polymers such as PEEK, polypropylene, acetal copolymers or polyphenylsulfone, etc.<\/p>\n<p>But <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>innovations in the medical device have led to the use of more fragile materials<\/strong><\/span>either that they cannot withstand heat (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lefildentaire.com\/articles\/quelle-procedure-de-traitement-pour-les-dispositifs-medicaux-reutilisables\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat-sensitive <\/a>materials), or that they are not resistant to sterilization products (chemical-sensitive or radio-sensitive materials). They are called fragile medical devices.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>Aurora plasma sterilization meets the needs of manufacturers of these medical devices<\/strong><\/span> : <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techniques-hospitalieres.fr\/article\/51-la-sterilisation-basse-temperature-a-privilegier-pour-les-dispositifs-medicaux-thermosensibles-ou-fragiles.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">low temperature sterilization<\/a> that does not damage the materials. The most important applies to <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>ingle-use medical devices<\/strong><\/span>. The other applies to <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>devices that can be reused in healthcare centers.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The first is required from manufacturers of fragile medical devices, which must provide patients <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>with pathogen-free devices with a probability of less than one in a million cases.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The most common low temperature sterilization (LTS) techniques for single-use devices are gamma irradiation and ethylene oxide fumigation.<\/p>\n<p>X and beta rays, nitric oxide, peracetic acid and supercritical CO2 are other modes of industrial low temperature sterilization. It is sometimes subcontracted. In such reprocessing, <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>only one to three devices are sterilized at a time.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is a low temperature sterilizer model that uses ozone (O<sub>3<\/sub>) combined with hydrogen peroxide. The dangers posed by ozone to the human respiratory system render this solution unpalatable, even if the sterilization results are undeniable.<\/p>\n<p>The most common low-temperature sterilization method in healthcare centers is vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) sterilization. It consists of exposing the device to be sterilized to H<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>2<\/sub> in the form of vapor in an enclosure under primary vacuum (about one mbar). The enclosure is heated to around 55\u00b0C, depending on the VHP sterilizer models.<\/p>\n<p>A single dose of hydrogen peroxide is used for an entire cycle. To this dose corresponds a certain mass to be sterilized. Manufacturers implement various means to overcome the hydrogen peroxide present at the end of the cycle. <a href=\"https:\/\/dumas.ccsd.cnrs.fr\/dumas-02446262\/document\">Questions<\/a> remains about the validity of the concentrations. Some still speak of \u00ab hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization \u00bb about this process. Now it is clear that this plasma does not sterilize anything. <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>Hydrogen peroxide is the sterilizing agent.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>The only true low-temperature plasma sterilization process in the care center is Aurora&#8217;s. <\/strong><\/span> Aurora exclusively uses an <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>air gas plasma<\/strong><\/span> to sterilize medical devices. Aurora does not use <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>any chemical agent<\/strong><\/span> to sterilize. The plasma precursor gas, oxygen, is injected throughout the sterilization cycle. There is therefore <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>no dose phenomenon<\/strong><\/span> to consider. There is as much plasma as injected oxygen.<\/p>\n<p>To generate the Aurora plasma, the tank must reach a much higher vacuum than for the VHP. The vacuum for plasma is a secondary vacuum. During the vacuum descent phase, the device to be sterilized is purged of any liquid or gas. It is thus <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>perfectly dry, with no risk of ice formation.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>There is also <span style=\"color: #00b500;\"><strong>no risk of condensation<\/strong><\/span> since the tank is not heated, and the injected oxygen cannot liquefy at such a pressure.
